When you arrive at this exquisite home, to be honest it’s hard to know which part of it to explore first. The vast, immaculately manicured gardens – virtually a private parkland in their own right – beckon temptingly. But then again, you need only to glance at the beautifully carved antique entrance doors flanked by a tinkling fountain to realise that an abundance of delectable treats and surprises must also surely await you inside. Decisions, decisions…
It was a tough call, but we decided to start with the house which, the height of luxury and in impeccable condition throughout, is an eclectic style fusion of antique and modern, with more than a hint of tantalising Eastern promise.
On the main floor, the entrance foyer leads to the diaphanous split-level living and dining room – which with an open fireplace has direct access onto the spacious L-shaped verandah just perfect for al fresco leisure and relaxation – while a pine staircase leads up to the deliciously unexpected mezzanine lounge area overlooking it. Back downstairs again there are two double bedrooms (one of which is currently used as a library and office), a marble bathroom, guest toilet, fully-fitted kitchen and an intimate sitting-room with pretty bay window. The master suite – featuring a private terrace, walk-in dressing-room and en suite bathroom – occupies the entire upper floor. At garden level there’s also a wine cellar, sauna, jacuzzi, shower-room, and a generously-sized studio-cum-bedsitter, as well as another bathroom plus a second fully-fitted kitchen.
Originally built in 1986, the house has belonged to the same family for the last 18 years and the current owners extended the property in 1999 when they converted the garden level lower ground floor to provide further living accommodation as well as a range of leisure facilities.
They’re now ready to take on another project, maybe an existing property to renovate and remodel, or perhaps as they own land in the area they’ll opt for a new-build home. Either way, they say there’s nowhere they’d rather choose than Marbella for their next holiday home.
The current owner bought this property just one hour after viewing it. Is history about to repeat itself? Well, we certainly wouldn't be surprised!
