 Brits still long to buy in Spain
A massive 68% of Britons would like to buy property abroad, says a new report from HIFX, the currency experts.
Why? Well almost two thirds of those surveyed (62%) identified the main benefit of buying a property abroad as the chance to escape the British weather. Leaving behind a stressful lifestyle was also a benefit according to 50%, whilst over a quarter would like to eventually like to live abroad permanently.
Based on 2005 figures from the British government, the number of UK citizens with second homes abroad is now 257,000. The HIFX’s research indicates that a further 29 million Brits would like to buy a property abroad and 11 million may do so within the next five years.
And the country most of them would like to buy? Still Spain of course. It’s Britain’s favourite buying destination, with 46% putting it at the top of their list.
