Their story...
In 2005, Richard Nash and wife Simone completely transformed their lives. Now happily ensconced in a new apartment on the outskirts of Benalmádena Pueblo, with a gorgeous baby girl called Scarlet, the couple traded a comfortable life in Windsor for an enticing future in Southern Spain.
"We wanted to buy a second home as an investment and Spain seemed like the best place to look," Richard explains. The decision turned out to be far-reaching. The Nashes bought an apartment off-plan and, during frequent visits to see the progress, the winter sun and relaxed lifestyle took a hold on the couple. They eventually decided to trade places.
"We wanted to live the dream..." says Richard. As an amateur golfer, who had played internationally, the dream for Richard was to give up his job as an account manager for a software company and turn pro. "Life was pretty stressful. It was all work and no play," says Simone, who had previously worked in commercial property. Richard now gives golf tuition at Alhaurín. "I've been extremely busy - even in the low season."
"A new dimension to our lives"
After an exhaustive search, the Nashes chose to settle in Benalmádena. It's "half-way between Marbella's Golf Valley, and the airport, and our apartment is close to the motorway and the village, offering convenience as well as a traditional Spanish lifestyle. We thought the Coast was out of our price range, and were thrilled when we heard about this development".
With predominantly Spanish neighbours, the couple enjoy real community spirit, as well as year-round leisure. There's a huge roof terrace, spacious gardens and pool, a children's play area, and even a bilingual nursery at the end of the road - ideal for Scarlet.
"We don't miss England - only friends and family. Our life is much more outdoorsy with the golf, our walks on the beach, and swimming after work..." he muses. "Windsor Great Park just can't compete..."
