Murcia's airport

Conveniently located on the northern shore of the Mar Menor and just 20 minutes from the city of Murcia, San Javier airport is well served by a comprehensive range of low-cost airlines operating direct flights from most UK airports, together with several scheduled airlines. The airport terminal was substantially extended in 2004, and a second runway will come into service in 2006. (Alicante airport, 45 minutes away is an alternative, while in 2008/9, a third option will be the new international facility planned at nearby Corvera, 23 kilometres south of Murcia capital.)

Via the Mar Menor – Murcia highway, or the AP7 motorway (toll road). San Javier airport offers free parking for 177 cars, irrespective of length of stay.

Approximate tariffs: Murcia (42€) – Cartagena (30€) – La Manga (30€ - 42€). The airport has its own taxi stand.

By Bus
The Latbus No. 73 service links San Javier airport with Murcia Bus Station: Journey time: 50 minutes; Fare: 7€.

Airport Opening Hours
San Javier airport is both a military air base as well as operating civil aviation flights. Currently it is open to passengers and the public as follows:

Monday – Friday: 07.30 to 08.15 & 15.00 to 22.30.
Saturdays, Sundays, Christmas, Easter, Fiestas and from 15 July to 1 September: 08.00 to 22.30.
Once the second runway becomes operational in 2006, these hours will be significantly increased.
