La Manga/Mar Menor
What's it like?
Nestling between Mar Menor and the Mediterranean is La Manga (the sleeve), a narrow strip of land made up of volcanic reefs, dunes and white sandy beaches. Since its discovery in the '60s, La Manga has been developed as a holidaymaker's paradise, with countless hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, entertainment and leisure facilities.
Mar Menor, or Little Sea, is a unique area lying just north of Cartagena. The huge saltwater lake is the largest in Europe, separated from the Mediterranean by glorious white beaches and the vibrant resort of La Manga. As well as its natural importance, Mar Menor's waters are known for their healing properties, and it is still a place of recreation and relaxation.
La Manga Club
Occupying a 1,400 acre site on the edge of the Mar Menor, La Manga Club is a popular year-round training ground for international athletes and sportsmen, and hosts many sporting events. The resort includes a 5-star hotel and self-catering accommodation. Maintenance fees are high.
