What's it like?
Surrounded by orange groves, Pego boasts a fabulous climate perfect for growing citrus fruits and rice. The streets conserve their original medieval layout with many houses built into the original old town walls dating back to the 13th century. Pego's most emblematic monument is the Church of the Assumption with a beautiful triptych and a bell tower topped with small cannon. Situated around the church square are bars and restaurants offering traditional Mediterranean cuisine, paellas made with rice from the local paddy fields, fresh fish, seafood and tapas - all served with great wines and desserts made from freshly picked fruit.
Sit and listen to the water cascading in the fountains and soak up the atmosphere as the town comes alive at night.
