Orihuela
What's it like?
Orihuela is a very up-and-coming town, but still retains masses of historical charm. Renowned by many as architecturally the richest place in the region, it boasts churches, museums, palaces and convents displaying gothic, renaissance and baroque art – often all three in the same building – five of which are listed national monuments. The area’s episcopal seat during almost four centuries, Orihuela has an important artistic and religious heritage and has the largest number of museums in the region. There is something for everyone, ranging from the appealing old town centre, to the cosmopolitan scene along the Coast, with plenty of discos, pubs, cinemas and beach terraces where you can relax and soak up the atmosphere on balmy Mediterranean nights.
