'Resident' VIVA Blog authors Carolyn Mowlem, Martina Heynemann & Chris McCarthy
Hello, and welcome to our brand new blog. We’re thrilled to bits with its cool and funky design, and over the weeks, as we gradually populate it with all manner of useful, topical, informative and entertaining Costa del Sol stuff, we hope you’re going to become well and truly addicted! Take a look around…
OK, so it’s not the first time that VIVA has ventured into the realms of the Blogosphere, that was back in 2009. To be honest, we never did much like the look and feel of the ‘one size fits all’ blog template that we bought off the peg, and we were pretty much novices when it came to posting, too. But that was then!
This time round, we’re all fired up and just rarin’ to be let loose on our very own bespoke blog – created by our inspired and talented in-house designer Rolando Sánchez. Plus we’ve also boned up a fair bit on the art (or should I say science?) of blogging since our first feeble attempt.
So this is the shape of things to come, and from here on in our three ‘resident’ authors – Chris McCarthy, Martina Heynemann and Carolyn Mowlem – will be blogging off every week on just about anything and everything under the Costa del Sol sun. And if something strikes a chord with you, then we hope you’ll simply join in the conversation by posting your comments, because we’d love to have you along.

Congratulations on the new blog. It’s looks excellent and I’m looking forward to reading it over the coming weeks.
Great stuff.
This is my first blogging experience as I usually have my nose buried in papers and not much time but I think this is a refreshing approach and I like it very much!
It’s addictive… you’re warned!
Due to the sheer accuracy of Carolyn’s description on the About Us page of myself (westlife watch out) I thought I better congratulate you all as a sign of my appreciation. Well done guys; this is brilliant! Your hard work has really paid off.
The new blog looks great, I’ve already face booked and tweeted it! I like the photography section, so we can upload our own photos of the Costa del Sol!

Ganz einfach Spitze, dieser BLOG. Vielen Dank an alle, die daran so hart und unermüdlich gearbeitet haben . SUPER!!! Wir werden viel Spaß haben.
Very nice and informative blog.
I have a Spain question that maybe you guys could answer…. Is it illegal to wash your car on the roadside in Spain, as many of us did back home?
Hi Andy, thanks for that!
Not quite sure if that’s a serious question, or if you’re having us on maybe… Either way, I’m afraid I haven’t got a clue. Depending on where the roadside is, sounds to me like anyone washing a car on it could be taking their life into their own hands. Seriously though, if it’s on an urbanisation, then I guess it depends on the community’s rules and regulations, plus I imagine it’s down to local by-laws.
Does anyone out there know the right answer?
Actually it is illegal to wash a car on a public road, even in parking bays, etc. Even though people do it they shouldn’t be. You can only wash a car in your own private property or in a car wash.
Hi everyone, well this is a new thing for me as you all know ….the P.C. is not my favourite thing, im a people person not usually at my desk….but I can see by the comments made that this is also a people thing and could be good fun.
Hello all,
I think the blog looks fantastic and it proves once again that the commitment and zest for innovation which have always distinguished this company over the years are more alive than ever. My sincerest congratulations to the whole Viva team.
Lovely sunny day, how is the rest of the world?
